Why Conical Street Light Poles of the Same Height Can Have Different Prices

Many overseas conical pole buyers and project engineers often feel confused when receiving quotations for conical street light poles. Even if poles share exactly the same height, their prices can vary widely. As a professional conical street light pole manufacturer with rich OEM and ODM experience, we would like to break down the main factors behind this price gap for global infrastructure clients.

First of all, the top and bottom diameters directly affect raw material consumption. Two conical poles at the same height may have different taper designs. A pole with a larger bottom diameter and wider top opening consumes more steel plate during rolling and forming. Bigger diameters mean more metal material, which pushes up the base cost. Besides diameter, wall thickness is another critical factor. A thicker pole uses far more steel than a thinner one of identical height and taper. For high-wind zone projects, clients usually specify thicker walls to meet local load standards, which naturally leads to higher pricing.

Secondly, pole shape and structural design bring extra cost differences. Some conical poles are simple round tapered shapes, while others are customized with polygonal sections, decorative flanges, reinforced base plates or special bracket mounting structures. Custom shapes require extra cutting, bending and welding work. Complex designs take longer production time and demand stricter inspection standards, so the factory will charge more for these customized versions.

Thirdly, surface treatment requirements create obvious price differences. Hot-dip galvanizing is normally charged by weight. Since conical street light poles with larger diameters and thicker walls are heavier, their galvanizing cost rises accordingly. Different galvanizing standards also change the final price. Clients may ask for different zinc layer thickness to meet local anti-corrosion codes. On top of galvanizing, powder coating is an optional extra step. If powder coating is required, the cost varies with powder quality, UV resistance grade and custom colors. High-performance outdoor powder costs more than regular powder. Some projects only need galvanizing without spraying, which will be much cheaper.

To get an accurate quotation, buyers should not judge the conical street light pole only by height. It is necessary to confirm diameter, wall thickness, shape, galvanizing standard and powder coating requirements in advance. Clear specifications help conical pole manufacturers offer precise pricing, reduce revision cycles and avoid misunderstandings during project cooperation.
