Popular Science On High Mast Light Lifting System

For lifting system high-mast lights, the winch lifting mechanism is integrated inside the high mast pole cavity. The complete lamp panel can be lowered to 1 meter above ground. Maintenance, lamp replacement and routine servicing can be completed by operators standing on the ground, without cranes, aerial work platforms or working at height.

1. Main Components of LED High Pole Lights

① Drive Unit:

Worm-gear reducer motor with electromagnetic brake, featuring self-locking function for anti-falling protection. A manual crank is reserved for emergency operation in case of power failure.

② Transmission Assembly:

Safety coupling, primary and secondary high-strength stainless-steel wire ropes, rope divider and movable pulley block. The rope divider prevents wire-rope tangling during lifting.

③ Guide Assembly:

Multi-point guide rollers fitted on the lamp panel, ensuring stable travel of the lamp panel inside the pole without shaking or jamming.

④ Electric Control Cabinet:

Installed inside the bottom access door of the pole. Equipped with overload protection, upper- and lower-limit switches, over-travel protection and wired remote control. When the lamp panel rises to its working height, the automatic latch engages. The mechanical latch bears the load of the lamp panel while the wire ropes are relieved of tension.

⑤ Follower Spare Power-supply Cable:

Moves together with the lamp panel during lifting to guarantee reliable power supply for luminaires.

2. Working Principle of LED High Pole Lights

The motor drives the worm-gear reducer. Power is transmitted via the safety coupling and pulley block, and the wire ropes pull the lamp panel to travel up and down inside the mast. Lifting speed: 3-5 m/min. When reaching the top position, the automatic latch locks into place. For maintenance, unlatch the mechanical lock first, then lower the lamp panel slowly down to ground level. Limit-switch protection is implemented throughout the whole travel to avoid over-travel risks.

Key Note: After normal commissioning and full lifting, the wire ropes shall remain slack. The weight of the lamp panel shall be borne by the mechanical latch to extend the service life of wire ropes.
