What Are The Advantages Of Galvanized Lighting Poles?

Because street lighting poles need to support heavy solar panels, lamps, and batteries, and withstand high-torsional winds, problems with the pole could lead to twisting, cracking, or even injury to property and people. Hot-dip galvanizing effectively protects the pole from corrosion, maintaining its strength for up to 25 years and effectively protecting its supporting components.
Currently, there are three main methods for protecting street lighting poles from corrosion:
1. Hot-dip galvanizing: This is the most popular and best galvanizing method chosen by streetlight manufacturers.
2. Cold galvanizing: Its corrosion resistance is slightly lower than hot-dip galvanizing.
3. Painting: This method is rarely used now because it provides almost no outdoor corrosion protection.
How does hot-dip galvanizing protect street lighting poles from corrosion? Zinc is a more reactive metal than iron. When a zinc-iron compound is corroded and forms an electrode, electrons transfer to the iron, protecting the iron while sacrificing the zinc. Meanwhile, zinc readily forms a dense oxide layer in the air, protecting it from further oxidation. In air, zinc forms a dense oxide layer, preventing deeper oxidation; in electrolytes (rainwater, seawater, river water, acid and alkali corrosion), zinc acts as a sacrificial anode, thus protecting iron from corrosion in all conditions.

Galvanized Lighting Pole Storage Methods
1. The storage area or warehouse for galvanized lighting poles must be clean, well-drained, and far away from factories or mines that produce harmful gases or dust. The site must be cleared of weeds and all debris to keep the galvanized lighting poles clean.
2. Acids, alkalis, salts, cement, and other substances that corrode steel should not be kept in the warehouse with galvanized lighting poles. Different steel types should be stored separately to avoid mixing and contact corrosion.
3. It is possible to store large sections of steel, rails, steel plates, large-diameter steel pipes, forgings, etc. outdoors.
4. Small and medium-sized steel sections, steel wire, and steel ropes can be stored in well-ventilated sheds, but mats are required.
5. Warehouses can store small square tubes, thin steel plates, steel strips, silicon steel sheets, small-diameter or thin-walled steel pipes, cold-rolled and galvanized steel pipes, and high-priced and easily corroded metal products.
6. Geographical conditions should be used to select warehouses. Ordinary enclosed warehouses, which have roofs, walls, tight doors and windows, and ventilation systems, are most commonly used.
7. Warehouses should be ventilated on sunny days and closed on rainy days to prevent moisture buildup. Always maintain a suitable storage environment.
