I. Motor Vehicle Signal Pole
1. Mixed-Use Roads: At intersections without a median strip separating motor vehicle and non-motor vehicle lanes, road signal posts are generally installed near the tangent point of the opposite curb line in the direction of travel. When the intersection is large, an additional set of traffic lights can be installed on the right-hand sidewalk in the opposite direction. If there is a central median strip, an additional set of traffic lights can be installed on the left side of the central median strip near the stop line. When the road is narrow, an integrated road signal post can be installed on the sidewalk near the tangent point of the opposite curb line. When the road signal post is installed on the sidewalk, it must not obstruct the tactile paving for the visually impaired.
2. Roads with Separated Motor Vehicle and Non-Motor Vehicle Lanes: At intersections with a median strip separating motor vehicle and non-motor vehicle lanes, if the width of the median strip allows, the opposite road signal post should be installed within 2 meters behind the tangent point of the right-hand median strip. When the intersection is large, an additional set of traffic lights can be installed on the left-hand median strip in the opposite direction. When the road is narrow, an integrated road signal post can be installed within 2 meters behind the tangent point of the right-hand median strip in the opposite direction. When the width of the median strip is small, it should be installed according to the method for mixed motorized and non-motorized road installation.

II. Pedestrian Signal Pole
Pedestrian signals are installed on the extension line of the inner or outer edge of the rear two ends of the signal pole, at a distance of 0.8m to 2m from the curb. The tactile paving for people with visual impairments cannot be blocked by pedestrian signal poles.
Maintenance of road signal posts
Cleaning: Depending on the environment, cleaning frequency should be modified. Main urban roads should be cleaned once a month, while suburban and industrial areas should be cleaned every two weeks. To avoid damaging the paint, clean with a soft cloth and a neutral detergent; stay away from corrosive substances. To prevent degrading the quality of the images, dust that sticks to the poles in areas where cameras are installed should also be cleaned concurrently.
Electrical System Maintenance: Only qualified individuals are allowed to perform electrical system maintenance. Make sure to look for loose terminals, damaged wiring insulation, and adequate grounding. Every month, open the access door of the pole, use a dry cloth to dust the interior, and look for indications of wiring aging.
Test grounding resistance frequently to make sure it satisfies requirements and to guard against equipment damage during thunderstorms. Replace old grounding cables as soon as possible and perform a thorough inspection of the grounding system for every pole prior to each rainy season.
Special Weather Protection: To stop rainwater from backflowing and soaking electrical equipment, make sure the pole's drainage holes are clear before a significant downpour. Make sure the signal lights and light arms are securely fastened after strong winds.
