Are Hot-dip Galvanized Lamp Posts Any Good?

Hot-dip galvanizing refers to a surface treatment technology that coats the surface of metal alloys or other materials with a zinc layer, providing aesthetic appeal, rust prevention, and other benefits. Currently, products processed with hot-dip galvanizing, such as hot-dip galvanized lamp posts, are widely used.
Hot-dip galvanizing evolved from the more traditional hot-dip galvanizing technology. It was first applied industrially in France in 1836, making it over 140 years old. The rise of the hot-dip galvanizing industry is largely due to the rapid development of cold-rolled steel strip in the last thirty years. The production process of hot-dip galvanized sheets primarily includes: raw material preparation → pre-plating treatment → hot-dip galvanizing → post-plating treatment → finished product inspection. Light poles that have undergone hot-dip galvanizing can generally remain rust-free for about 20 years as long as they do not come into contact with moisture.
With economic and social development, hot-dip galvanized lamp posts have gradually replaced wooden and cement light poles. In practice, the advantages of steel components are significantly superior to those made of wood. Hot-dip galvanized lamp posts are not only high in strength, flame-retardant, slip-resistant, and safe, but also lightweight. After decades of use, they retain residual value and can be recycled back into the furnace for reuse. This maximizes capital utilization and is environmentally friendly, which differs from wooden and cement lampposts in terms of economic benefits and social significance.

How to judge the quality of hot-dip galvanized lamp posts?
Hot-dip galvanized lamp posts are made by processing the lamp post into its shape and then placing it in a hot-dip galvanizing bath for a chemical reaction, forming a zinc coating on the surface to achieve anti-corrosion and rust prevention. The processing technology for galvanized lamp posts is very simple, but the performance of the finished lamp post is greatly improved. Both its strength and toughness are much better than ordinary lamp posts, and it can resist oxidation and erosion from the natural environment, making it widely used in engineering construction and other fields. So how can you judge the quality of a hot-dip galvanized lamp post from its appearance?
We can easily tell the quality from its appearance. First, if the zinc coating on the lamp post's surface is uneven and widespread, it can be determined that it is a substandard product.
Second, check whether there are any uncoated areas, pitting, or white spots on the surface. Such problems arise either from poor pole material or improper galvanizing processes. Regardless of the cause, the overall impression is that the galvanized pole is of poor quality.
Bubbles in the galvanized layer, as well as a faint greenish tint, indicate poor galvanizing quality. Nonetheless, it is incorrect to conclude that any of these issues always indicate a subpar hot-dip galvanized pole. National regulations allow for some deviation, but only within a specific range; anything outside of this range clearly indicates a subpar product.
Phoebus has long focused on pole manufacturing, specializing in wholesale hot-dip galvanized pole components such as streetlights, stadium lights, traffic signal poles, and surveillance poles to meet a wide range of outdoor lighting and traffic facility needs. Our poles are constructed from high-quality Q235 steel that has been hot-dip galvanized at high temperatures to ensure consistent zinc layer thickness and strong adhesion. They are weatherproof, corrosion-resistant, rust-proof, and long-lasting, able to withstand harsh outdoor conditions such as heavy rain, direct sunlight, and sandstorms.
Our manufacturing facility can accommodate custom height, diameter, and flange sizes. During production, we strictly adhere to industry and national standards and thoroughly test each batch for flaws and loads. As a direct manufacturer, we cut out the middleman, resulting in consistent supply and fast delivery. Feel free to contact me for a quote!
