Main highways are under high traffic volume and speed, which put extremely high demands on the stability, safety and spacing of metal street light poles. To ensure the road lighting efficiency and driving security, the installation specifications should be strictly followed. Let's learn more about it with Metal Street Light Pole Factory Phoebus.

I. Foundation Pre-embedding Requirements

Main highway street light poles must have independent concrete foundations. The foundation size should be the same as the height of the pole. Standard 6-12 meter metal streetlight poles have dedicated pre-embedded parts. Anchor bolt specifications and spacing should be in strict accordance with national standards. During foundation excavation, underground pipelines, fiber optic cables, water supply and drainage pipes must be avoided. The concrete pour has to be properly cured. The pole should be erected only after the curing period to avoid the risk of settlement and tilting of the foundation.

II. Verticality and Erection Specifications

Metal street light poles should be hoisted and lowered carefully to avoid impacts, paint damage and deformation. After installation, calibrate verticality with a theodolite. The tilt error should be less than 1‰. Any tilting on the main highways is absolutely forbidden. The bolts on the connecting flange of pole should be tightened evenly in diagonal direction. Anti-loosening washers should be installed, so as to prevent loosening caused by long-term vibration of vehicles.

III. Layout Specifications for Spacing and Height

8-12 meter metal street light poles are generally used for urban main roads and the installation distance is 30-40 meters. For expressways, the pole height and spacing can be suitably increased. The arrangement can be single-sided, double-sided symmetrical or staggered to ensure uniform illumination of the road surface, eliminate blind spots and meet the visibility requirements of high-speed driving at night.

IV. Safety and Collision Avoidance Specifications

Steel metal street poles at intersections and adjacent to pedestrian walkways shall be collision protected. For easy identification, apply warning paint to the bottom of the pole. The grounding resistance of metal poles is required to reach the electrical standard of the ground, and the grounding should be reliable, so as to effectively prevent lightning and static electricity, and prevent electrical safety accidents during thunderstorms.

V. Acceptance Standards After Installation

After installation, check the steel metal street poles for bending, the paintwork for damage, the horizontal arms of the light fixtures for levelness and the wiring for cleanliness and waterproofing. The overall acceptance test should be able to meet the requirements of wind pressure resistance, impact resistance, corrosion resistance and durability, suitable for long-term use in outdoor complex highway environment.

Phoebus is a professional metal street light pole factory, and our main highway street light poles are made of thickened steel, with double anti-corrosion treatment of hot-dip galvanizing and electrostatic powder coating. They are wind-resistant, impact-resistant, rust-resistant and come in a full range of specifications and support non-standard customization. Steel metal street poles are manufactured strictly to highway and municipal installation standards, ensuring quality on the project. They can also be supplied in bulk for multiple lighting projects.
