Installing traffic sign poles is a straightforward but demanding task in traffic safety facility engineering. Phoebus will provide a quick overview of traffic sign pole installation today.

1. Loading and Transportation:

When traffic sign poles leave the factory, their flanges are packaged to prevent damage from collisions during transportation. Nylon slings are used for loading and unloading because steel wire ropes cannot be directly wrapped around the pole for lifting. Place the traffic sign above everything else and wrap it in bubble wrap. It is recommended to bundle two signs with their patterned sides facing each other using a packing machine to prevent scratches during transportation.

2. Unloading:

It is advised to unload each traffic sign pole separately. After the traffic signal, unload the crossarm and get up. To ensure accuracy, measure the distance between the lower flange of the upright and the foundation flange before unloading it.

3. Inspection:

Before being accepted, each product that is delivered to the site needs to be examined in accordance with the technical standards that have been decided upon by both parties and verified by the on-site supervisor. If you have any questions, please contact us immediately; otherwise, the approval will be considered final.

4. Safety Assurance:

An area survey must be finished prior to traffic sign pole installation. To prevent unauthorized individuals from getting to the installation site, the road should be blocked during construction if at all possible. If road closure is not possible, construction and speed reduction signs should be placed 500 meters before and after the installation site. Reflective cones should be placed at intervals starting 50 meters from the installation site. Reflective vests should be worn by every construction worker.

5. Installation:

Only after the supervisor certifies that the foundation strength satisfies the installation specifications can installation begin. There are several methods for installing traffic sign poles. Common methods are as follows:

① First, place the traffic sign pole upright in a flat, open area, with the horizontal arm parallel to the ground;

② Lay a protective mat on the ground at the horizontal arm installation location, place the traffic sign with the graphic side facing the ground on the mat, adjust the distance between the sign and the pole, and adjust the distance between the bottom edge of the sign and the bottom flange to ≥5.5m;

③ The crossarm is securely fastened to the signpost's main body by construction workers.

④ A level installation is ensured by using specialized clamps to precisely fix the traffic sign in the pre-set position on the crossarm.

6. Hoisting:

The connection between the pole and the upper crossarm is suspended using nylon slings, and auxiliary ropes are fastened to the lower crossarm's end for balance. Once the signpost has been hoisted into position, one or two construction workers help align it and firmly attach the bottom flange to the foundation.

7. Cleaning and Maintenance:

Following the installation of the entire signpost, the surface is quickly and thoroughly cleaned to get rid of dust and stains, guaranteeing that the information on the sign is readable and giving drivers the best possible visibility.

Road traffic safety sign poles are core infrastructure of urban transportation systems, carrying multiple key functions. They not only intuitively convey key data such as road direction, location, and distance, providing precise guidance for vehicle travel, but also effectively regulate traffic order and ensure road safety through clear traffic rule prompts and risk warnings.

With 20 years of industry experience, Phoebus Light has always focused on the research and development and manufacturing of road traffic safety sign poles. Leveraging years of technological accumulation and practical experience, we deeply understand the safety standards and application requirements of traffic facilities, and can provide customized product solutions based on different road scenarios, traffic flow, and specific customer requirements.
