Why Do Same Height Street Light Poles Have Different Prices?

Many customers are confused when receiving quotations for street light poles of identical height. Prices can vary greatly, and the difference mainly comes from raw materials, structural specifications, surface treatment and production requirements.
First of all, raw material selection. Street light poles can be made of carbon steel, aluminum, stainless steel or fiberglass. Even within carbon steel, there are multiple grades including Q235, Q355 and Q460. Different materials carry different unit costs. Choosing higher-grade steel or premium non-ferrous materials will directly push up the total price of the pole.

Secondly, pole diameter and wall thickness. Even for poles with the same overall height, different top and bottom diameters consume different amounts of raw materials. Likewise, wall thickness makes a clear difference. A thicker pole uses more metal, which increases material cost and structural weight. Both diameter and wall thickness are key factors affecting pricing.

Thirdly, galvanizing cost. Galvanizing is normally charged by weight. Poles of the same height with larger diameter or thicker walls weigh more, leading to higher galvanizing fees. Besides weight, galvanizing standards also create price gaps. Options include cold galvanizing and hot-dip galvanizing. Different required zinc coating thickness will further change the final treatment cost. Hot-dip galvanizing with a heavy zinc layer is much more expensive than cold galvanizing.
Fourthly, powder coating requirements. Some projects only require galvanizing without powder spraying. If spray coating is needed, the price varies by coating color and powder quality. High-performance anti-UV powder for outdoor use costs more than ordinary powder, and special custom colors also bring extra charges.
Lastly, production process standards. Higher requirements on cutting accuracy, welding quality, straightness tolerance and inspection procedures mean more labor and strict quality control. Poles manufactured under rigorous technical standards will have a higher price tag.
In summary, height alone cannot determine the price of a street light pole. All the above factors need to be confirmed before an accurate quotation can be provided.
