How To Protect Street Lamp Posts in Extreme Weather

Inclement weather can cause street lamp posts to tilt or even collapse. Once tilted, a street lamp post's stability is compromised, making it vulnerable to collapse in subsequent wind and rain. A collapsed street lamp post can directly block roads, severely disrupting traffic flow and potentially leading to accidents.

LED Street Lamp PostEach Phoebus lamp post has passed third-party wind resistance testing and certification, ensuring it can withstand sustained impacts from force 8 winds. The pole's base features a widened flange (reducing the contact area by 20% compared to conventional designs) and pre-buried anchor bolts, creating an "anchor" fixation to the concrete foundation to prevent loosening in strong winds. The welds between the pole and the boom are welded using a fully automatic submerged arc welding process, resulting in full, continuous welds. Ultrasonic testing has proven that no welds are defective, ensuring the pole can withstand the repetitive swinging forces of the light fixture in high winds. A double layer of protection, hot-dip galvanizing and plastic spraying, also ensures the pole is resistant to rust in wind and rain.

Street light inspection and preparation before bad weather

1. Comprehensive inspection.

Arrange professional street light maintenance personnel to check the street lights in the jurisdiction one by one. Check the fixing of the lamps, check whether the screws are tightened, and whether the lampshade has cracks or signs of looseness. For lamps with problems, reinforce or replace them in time.

2. Carefully check the verticality and stability of the street lamp posts.

Use professional measuring tools to measure the inclination of the street lamp posts. For poles with inclinations exceeding the specified range, analyze the reasons and make adjustments. Check whether the foundation of the lamp pole is firm, whether it is hollowed out or loose, and if so, take corresponding reinforcement measures.

3. Check the connection points of the street light lines.

Check whether there are looseness, oxidation, and other phenomena at the line joints, and tighten and clean them if so. At the same time, check whether the insulation sheath of the line is intact, whether there are problems such as damage and aging, and repair or replace the damaged lines in time.

After bad weather, street lamp posts need to undergo the following emergency inspections

1. Foundation stability:

After heavy rain or floods, check whether the foundation of the street lamp post has been washed away or loosened, and whether the soil around the foundation has collapsed. If the foundation is unstable, the street lamp post may tilt or collapse, and the foundation needs to be reinforced in time.

2. Pole integrity:

After strong winds or hail, check whether the pole is deformed, broken, or bent. If the pole is found to be damaged, the degree of damage needs to be assessed. Minor damage can be repaired, and serious damage requires replacement of the street lamp post.

3. Electrical facilities:

Check whether the line is damaged or leaking, and whether the electrical components are working properly, to ensure the safety of electricity use.
